Forest Foliage - Handpainted Texture and 3D modeling
Personal Project / learning project
Goal: Handpaint & use Foliage
I have a weakspot for greenery and foliage and even if I have tried a lot of different styles and techniques, I always like to try something new and exciting to see how it would fit me and my style.
After watching zugzugart ‘s youtube tutorial I wanted to test this myself and see how I liked it. Turns out, I really really enjoyed it!
I created 2 differet results and all in all used a few days from the first test to the final result.
Made with Blender & Photoshop.
First handpainted test made in Photoshop
Setting up in Blender with planes, trying to see how it balances
Final result before starting over. I learned a lot through this first testing phase.
New handpainted texure (without the water)
First setup idea was to make a grain path in the middle. I later changed that to water
Setting up the water and playing around with the placements of the foliage
More playing around
Tweaking details
Adding sun rays material
Changing the sun rays for better result
Final result
All in all I am very pleased with this little piece.
Handpainting is as always very relaxing and such a good way to keep up with how I use color and shadows not only in my 3D projects but also drawings and other art project.
